Star Trek Wallpapers

Accompanying my latest cgi animation "Romulan Ale, Captain!", here are some wallpapers for everyone to use.
The first batch (1280x720) are scenes from the animation itself, I did however change some minor details like background, ship positioning or point of view. Also some additional effects are used to make it look less boring ;). The second batch (1280x1024) are promotional wallpapers plus the Valdore/Norexan schematics I haven't had the time to complete until now. Enjoy!

[Star Trek] Movie: Romulan Ale, Captain!

After not touching my completed meshes for years, I finally had time to do something usefull with them. My latest Star Trek cgi animation features all of my favorite ship designs, like the Defiant, Sovereign, Akira or Valdore. For the first part I got inspired by Star Trek Nemesis, the second part is entirely original.
All modeling, texturing, lighting, animation and editing work is done by myself over a span of approx. 6 months. No plugins of any kind used.

Modeling, Animation & Rendering (Standard Scanline Renderer): 3ds max 2010
Textures: Photoshop CS 5
Editing: Premiere Elements 9
Soundtrack: Two Steps From Hell - Invincible

Video stats: 1280x720 progressive (720p HD), h.264, 25fps, 2:56min
Audio stats: MPEG-4 AAC 48kHz Stereo

No proper soundeffects, because I don't have the necessary resources. If someone wants to help me out here, drop me a line. Watch in HD if you can!

[Update 04.08.2010] Work In Progress: Norexan

Update 04.08.2010:
Here is a quick heads-up on the current state of this project. I finished texturing and lighting a while ago and went straight to the next stage: A movie featuring not only this baby, but a lot of my other models as well. It's similar to Among Wolves, although not a sequel (as initially planned) because I want to do a different story now. Stay tuned on this one.
Because of that, there wont be wallpapers of the Norexan/Valdore any time soon. But I promise there will be even more pretty stuff to look at as soon as the animation is finished.

Finished textures and lighting.

Fedcon 2009 Opening Animation by Tobias Richter

Amazing piece of work by Tobias Richter of The Light Works for Fedcon 2009 scifi convention. Love it.

[Star Trek] Legacy Class MK2 by Dimitri/Galen

So I just stumbled over this beautiful mesh over at scifi-meshes.com. The original design of the Legacy Class is by Galen (DK Design) and used as reference by Dimitri for modeling. Its obviously not finished yet, but so far it looks stunning. Pay a visit to the work in progress thread over at scifi-meshes.com if you'd like to comment on it or follow his work.

One more picture after the break.

Cardassian Galor and Keldon by Martocticvs

Over at scifi-meshes.com you can find a new WIP by Martocticvs. Well, actually it's not new but I've come to know about it only a few minutes ago.
This one is particularly interesting to me, because I've modelled a Galor Class vessel myself. I think Martocticvs did a very good job at it. The work he put into detailing is exraordinary and building a Keldon along with it, is something I also should have done.
Now I only need to see some beauty and action shots of the finished model (see my version here, here and here).

Wallpapers: Star Trek Illustrations

As promised a few days earlier, here is the last set of Star Trek wallpapers (for now). It contains schematic illustrations of each Trek-model I did during 2002-2004. From earliest to latest these include: Galor, Peregrine, Nebula, Defiant, Sovereign and Akira class vessels. Most of these models will be featured in an upcoming [movie] project of mine. As always wallpapers are available in 1280x960 only.

Work In Progress: Sovereign

While modelling the Sovereign Class vessel in 2003, I took the time to take several screenshots at various modelling stages, to illustrate progress and techniques I used. Those "work in progress" [wip] pictures are listed below and can be viewed fullsize [1024x768] by clicking on them. Unfortunatelly this is the only model I created wips for, but I plan to take detailed screenshots for future projects down the road. As a matter of fact, I'm already working on a new one :-). Stay tuned for further updates as well as wallpapers for all my finished models from the Star Trek universe.

Random Star Trek Wallpapers

Here are some more Star Trek - themed wallpapers I created during 2003 and 2004. Once again I was aiming for photorealistic look - although now, that some time has passed, I'm not sure anymore I achieved that goal in all of these pictures. All wallpapers are available in 1280x960 only.
